Fri 13 Nov 2009 BUSTED JESUS COMIX
The play is based on the true story of Mike Diana, at the time a teenager, who was prosecuted and convicted of distributing obscene material - namely a comic that he drew. This conviction, in Florida, is the only successful one of its type in the USA.

The court ordered 3 years probation, a $3,000 fine, community service and a rehabilitation programme to cure Mike of his homosexual lifestyle and also forbade him from drawing. Mike Diana, played by Marco, runs away to New York and applies for a job at a coffee shop, breaking the terms of his probation. The play centres on his job interview and is interspersed with his memories of the court case, the comic he drew and the rehab programme.

Mike Diana has produced some original drawings especially for this production which can be seen at the theatre. ABOVE THE STAG THEATRE, 15 Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DD. 7.30pm. Tickets - £12. Booking Email | 0208 932 4747 | Info
